Report for May 2015

The title of the presentation on 13 May was A Mixture from John, which recorded John Tyson's long-time interest in photography from the days of the Instamatic and cassette film, through to the most up-to-date technology that he uses so successfully today. I think I counted ten different cameras and their workings from film to tiny cards in the i-Phone!

With each camera shown came examples of images achieved. Aerial shots from the top of the Humber Bridge on a basic camera were remarkable (and dizzying) and it was very interesting to see the gradual changes in clarity as technology moved - and continues to move - with digital.

The presentation ended with a couple of videos using John's latest bit of kit - first a car ride and then a motorbike ride around the Barton area. That motorbike! I felt the wind on my face and experienced every bend in the road - yet such was the quality of the camera there was no disturbance in the quality of the film, not even an engine vibration or a stone in the road. Thank you John, from someone who has never been on a motorbike!

The challenge for the photo slot was Land/Sea/City-Scapes and was ably judged by Rachel Holmes. Congratulations to the following:
